Your first visit, step by step

Every patient starts with a 90-minute, one-on-one visit with Dr. Park. Here is exactly what happens, what it costs, and when another doctor may be the better first stop.

1. Check that we are the right fit

  • We treat headache, migraine and related pain (face, jaw, neck, shoulder and back) that has been going on for at least 3 months. For newer headaches, start with your primary care doctor, who can rule out other causes that need prompt attention.
  • We cannot accept patients who are currently taking controlled substances, including opioids, barbiturates such as butalbital, or ketamine. These can cause or worsen headaches, and they need to be stopped safely with your current doctor first.
  • Everyone starts with a new patient visit, even if you have seen Dr. Park before at another practice.
  • We are a by-appointment outpatient office, not an urgent care. For a sudden, severe headache or new symptoms such as trouble speaking, vision loss, weakness, numbness or confusion, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

2. Book and complete your forms

Request a time on our booking page. After booking, you will be asked to complete patient registration forms and put a credit card on file to hold your appointment. If the forms are not completed, the appointment may be cancelled.

Before your visit you are entitled to a written Good Faith Estimate of the expected charges.

3. Prepare for the day

  • Bring your form of payment and your pharmacy information.
  • Bring relevant records: recent notes from a neurologist or primary care doctor, and imaging reports.
  • Please don’t wear perfume or other scented products. We are a fragrance-free office out of respect for patients with migraine.
  • Arrive 15 minutes early.

4. Your 90-minute visit

You will spend the full visit with Dr. Park herself. It includes:

  • A full review of your headache, pain and medical history
  • A neurological examination
  • Her diagnosis and assessment, explained in plain language
  • A personalized treatment plan
  • Time for your questions

5. If an injection is right for you

If Dr. Park recommends an in-office treatment such as an occipital nerve block or trigger point injections, she will explain what it involves and why she is suggesting it. You decide whether to go ahead. If you do, it can usually be done during the same visit, for the fee listed on our services and fees page.

6. After your visit

  • Follow-up visits are booked as needed. There is no minimum number of visits and no membership.
  • Prescriptions, lab work and imaging can still go through your insurance and pharmacy benefits as usual.
  • HSA and FSA funds can typically be used. On request we provide a Super bill, an itemized receipt you can submit to a commercial insurance plan for possible reimbursement. Medicare and Medicaid do not allow this. See the FAQ.

What it costs

The new patient visit is $520. In-office treatments are priced separately and listed on the services and fees page, along with our cancellation policy. We do not bill insurance, so there are no co-pays or deductibles.
